AUA Private Equity Signs on to the United Nations-Supported Principles for Responsible Investing

NEW YORK, NY – February 28, 2017 – New York, NY – AUA Private Equity Partners, LLC (“AUA Private Equity”) is pleased to announce its decision to sign on to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The PRI is recognized as the leading global network for investors who are committed to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into their investment practices and ownership policies. AUA Private Equity will implement the principles to complement its existing policies and dedication to ESG as an integral part of its investment process.

The six key principles are:
  • Incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes;
  • Be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices;
  • Seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest;
  • Promote acceptance and implementation of the principles within the investment industry;
  • Work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the principles; and
  • Report on our activities and progress towards implementing the principles.

Andy Unanue, Managing Partner of AUA Private Equity commented, “In addition to evaluating material ESG factors during our investment process, we strongly believe that ESG integration can lead to improved operations, build value for both companies and the communities they serve, and generate alpha for our investors.” AUA Private Equity evaluates ESG factors to identify and reduce risks, and works with each portfolio company to develop company-specific ESG priorities to help drive performance.

“We are extremely excited to be working with AUA Private Equity, said Fiona Reynolds, Managing Director of the PRI. “AUA Private Equity is part of a small and growing number of general partners who have recognized the importance of ESG, and are leading the charge in developing firm-specific strategies and policies to fit the needs and goals of their portfolio companies and investors.”

Beyond its dedication to ESG throughout its investment process, AUA Private Equity, a minority-owned investment firm, is committed to supporting emerging minority or woman-owned businesses through AUAccelerate. Established in 2016 in partnership with the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, AUAccelerate is AUA Private Equity’s pro bono accelerator program designed to offer customized resources for minority or woman-owned enterprises in the form of training, mentorship and access to resources. AUA Private Equity is currently accepting applications for the 2017 Class of its AUAccelerate program.
